Wellness Grant
Program Description
Through our Wellness Grant Program, we support our nonprofit partners in prioritizing the health and well-being of their staff and volunteers. We recognize that healthy, supported people are essential to strong and sustainable organizations. These small grants provide flexible funding for wellness activities, resources, and experiences that promote individual and collective well-being.
Examples of how you may choose to utilize grant funding include:
- Team wellness: Staff and volunteer retreats, mental health days, team-building activities, and other group wellness experiences.
- Individual wellness: Discretionary stipends for health and wellness activities.
- Wellness memberships: Membership fees for fitness, wellness, or other programs that support individual well-being.
- Wellness resources: Supplies, tools, or other resources that support staff and volunteer well-being.
- Workplace well-being: Developing or strengthening policies, practices, or initiatives that foster a healthier, more supportive workplace environment and culture.
Eligibility
To be considered for funding the organization must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- The organization has an active ruling from the Internal Revenue Service confirming 501(c) (3) tax-exempt status.
- Organization confirms the understanding that the application process will be using a lottery system to award FY27 Wellness Grants.
- Organization has been awarded a grant within the last five fiscal years (July 2021 – June 2026). Eligible grant programs include ACOR (U.S. based applicants only - No international) TAU, St. Clare, Connecting with Community for our Common Home (formerly Climate Justice & Care for Creation), and/or a Nonprofit Capacity & Leadership grant.
- At least 25% of staff leadership (leadership team as you define it) includes individuals who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, an individual with a disability, or an immigrant.
- Be willing and able to comply with all requirements of the Allegany Franciscan Ministries Grant Agreement.*
- The organization acts in alignment with Catholic Social Teaching.

Limitations
- Organizations are not eligible if they have received a Wellness grant in FY25 (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026).
- Wellness grants are not available for individuals, public agencies, capital campaigns, endowments, or reserve funds.
- Grant funds must be spent by December 31, 2027.
Total Awards
We expect to award 30 Wellness grants in FY27. Using a lottery system, there will be 3 tiers available for applicants. The total amount requested will be based on staff size (part-time and full-time staff). We will run a separate lottery for each tier.

*Although funding awards are based on staff size, funds may be used to support volunteers.
