2008 Grant Programs
In each of Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ three regions, grant funds are distributed through several categories to help us achieve our overall goals and the specific focus of each regional effort. Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations working within the geographic region served by Allegany Franciscan Ministries. Funded programs must comply with a set of requirements described in Allegany Franciscan Ministries' Grant Agreement. The size of grant awards, specific eligibility requirements and guidelines vary by grant program and by region.
Miami-Dade Region Palm Beach Region Tampa Bay Region ACOR
Our 2008 grant programs include:
Major Grants: Typically our grants with the largest dollar amount, major grants are strategically aligned with Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ mission and our regional goals. Major grants will be awarded through a single competitive cycle in each region including a pre-application and full application phase. Funding decisions will be made in October 2008.
Tau Grants: Tau grants are selected through three grant cycles each year, and awarded to local nonprofit organizations to assist with organizational or program needs that are limited in time and scope. Funding decisions will be made in June, September and December.
ACOR (Allegany Community Out Reach) Grants:
ACOR supports programs affiliated with the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany or Catholic Health East, and includes support to Franciscan Sisters of Allegany ministries throughout the United States as well as abroad. ACOR grants will not exceed $5,000 each and are generally used for one-time or short term needs. ACOR grants in 2008 will be awarded through two competitive application cycles.
Capacity Building Scholarships: Scholarships are smaller awards (up to $500) designed to pay the registration fees for conferences, seminars and other training opportunities for the staff and volunteers of nonprofit organizations in order to increase their capacity to deliver efficient and effective services to those in need. Funding is limited each year with priority given to organizations that align with Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ mission and regional goals.
